Major US indices close mixed w/the Dow lower, the S&P closer to unchanged & NASDAQ higher

Major US stock indices are closing mixed with the Dow industrial average lower, the S&P and NASDAQ indices are higher:

• Dow industrial average fell -225.55 points or -0.47% at 47337.32.
• S&P index rose 11.84 points or 0.17% at 6852.04.
• NASDAQ index rose 109.77 points or 0.46% at 23834.72.

Amazon struck a $38 billion cloud computing deal with OpenAI or. The stock price closed at a new record high of $254.03 of 4.02%.

The Nvidia shares also closed at a new record high with a gain of $4.39 or 2.17%.

Meta continues to suffer after falling sharply after last week’s earnings told of higher capital spending. The price moved from a high on Wednesday at $759.16, to a low today of $636.18. That’s a decline of -16.65%. The price is now up 8.92% on the year.

• Revenues $1.18 billion versus estimates of $1.09 billion.
• The company sees Q4 revenues of $1.327 billion – $1.331 billion versus estimates of $1.19 billion.
• Fiscal year revenues 4.396 – $4.400 billion versus expected $4.15 billion

The stock price is trading up 3.3% at $240.04.
