Welsh golfer Darcey Harry starts life on the Ladies European Tour (LET) this week with the goal of qualifying for this summer’s home AIG Women’s Open.

Harry begins her first LET event in Morocco on Thursday having come through qualifying school to earn a place on the tour.

The 21-year-old already has her eyes on securing a place at the Women’s Open – the first golf major ever staged in Wales – which will be played at her home club, Royal Porthcawl, in late July and early August.

“The AIG Women’s Open is the dream,” Harry said.

“It is on my home course so I do not think I would be able to watch if I am not playing in it because I would be so, so disappointed. That is my main goal for the year.

“If it does not happen then it is not meant to be, but it would be great for Wales to have home players in the event.”

Harry, from Dinas Powys, is one of 52 rookies on the LET this year and will aim to make a positive impression in this week’s Lalla Meryem Cup.
